Jeremiah 37:14-16

¹⁴ Jeremiah answered him, “That is a lie. I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah refused to listen to him, and he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

¹⁵ The officials were enraged at Jeremiah. After having him beaten, they ordered him to be confined in the house of Jonathan the scribe, which had been converted into a jail. ¹⁶ Jeremiah was placed in a cell in the dungeon where he remained for a lengthy period of time.
